Ancient Stories    I    2024-2026

Ancient Stories developed from my research into archaeology, prehistoric art and the visual languages of ancient cultures. In these paintings, researched motifs and symbols are brought together within ambiguous, story-like scenes. Rather than illustrating existing myths or reconstructing particular cultures, the works place fragments from different sources into new relationships, allowing possible narratives to emerge without becoming fixed or fully explained.

Dreams, intuition and historical research interact throughout the series, creating scenes that appear simultaneously ancient and imagined. Ancient Stories marked an important transition in my practice: from exploring symbolic forms individually towards considering how they might operate within larger mythological narratives.
