Creation is a process of discovery as much as invention. Works on paper form the most exploratory part of my practice. Their smaller scale allows me to work with greater immediacy, test unfamiliar relationships and follow ideas without knowing where they will lead. Some become preparatory studies for larger paintings, while others develop into independent works or open entirely new directions.

Working primarily at A3 scale, I bring together dream imagery, ancient symbols and biomorphic forms through an intuitive process of experimentation. Watercolour and ink create fluid initial layers that encourage chance and unexpected associations. I then build upon these with acrylic, allowing forms to emerge, disappear or transform as the surface develops.

These works provide a testing ground for new materials, compositions, symbols and painting processes. Ideas discovered through them may later migrate into larger paintings or sculptures, while the works themselves retain the openness and uncertainty of their creation. They keep my visual language in motion, creating a space where established forms can be questioned and new possibilities can emerge.
